Refugees face new hurdles in the U.S.

By |November 19th 2015|Refugee issues|Comments Off on Refugees face new hurdles in the U.S.

Attorney Rachel Wilson has extensive experience with refugees. This topic is becoming increasingly important. U.S. lawmakers seem increasingly willing to limit the refugee admissions into the United States. Unfortunately, this mindset hurts not just refugees, but hurts all immigrants. Lawmakers that want to limit refugee admissions know very little about how refugee-seekers are screened and the security measures that are in place before refugees ever arrive int he United States. Therefore, any changes that lawmakers propose are based in fear, not in knowledge of the facts. This fear leads the lawmakers to take drastic actions that affect all kinds of immigrants. For example, now all foreign citizens that have traveled to Syria in the past must undergo increased background checks when they enter the United States. This demonizes an entire population.
